Project Overview

Comeback Workouts is a documentary-style video series created in partnership between Income Insurance and Singapore Athletics, highlighting the resilience, recovery journeys and support systems behind some of Singapore's young athletes.

Across the series, athletes shared their experiences recovering from injuries, the physical and mental challenges they faced during rehabilitation, and the role that family, coaches and teammates played in helping them return to competition.

For this project, I was involved in both directing and editing. My role included conducting interviews, uncovering personal stories and identifying the narrative threads that would ultimately shape each film. As the interviews unfolded, I began building the story structure in real time, allowing those insights to influence subsequent B-roll decisions and visual storytelling choices.

Working closely with the production team, the goal was to create films that felt authentic, inspiring and emotionally engaging while remaining grounded in the lived experiences of the athletes themselves. The result was a series that celebrated not only athletic achievement, but also perseverance, recovery and the support networks that make those journeys possible.
